Apart from a marginal short run call, which may or may not have been correct, the second match of the 2020 IPL ended in a tie. It was the 2nd consecutive game in which the players who had been playing in England in previous weeks looked like they were in their mid-season, while the players who had been under lock down in India looked like they were just returning from their off-season.
3 wickets fell in the powerplay in each innings. And in both cases, this suppressed the scoring during the next 6 overs. Delhi Capitals were 64/3 after 12 overs, while Kings XI were 68/5 after their first 12 overs. Both teams essentially played this game like a miniaturized ODI. A cagey, diffident game ended in a low scoring tie.
Consider the following question though - What’s the point of batting out a small number of overs (3-4) in a very short innings (20 overs), if there’s no escape from the fact that without scoring boundaries its impossible to win? Why not try to score boundaries earlier? What’s the difference between going for the 20 run over in the 12th over as opposed to the 18th?
